DFW South Asian Film Festival

DFW South Asian Film Festival

Our Mission:

The Dallas/Fort Worth area is now home to its very own South Asian film festival. DFW SAFF is a three day festival taking place from March 3 to 5, 2017. We will showcase World, U.S. and Texas premieres of features, shorts and documentaries, all chosen to engage, educate and inspire audiences. We have chosen a wide range of films exploring issues that affect South Asians living and working in America, as well as our brothers and sisters back home.

Our Vision:

DFW SAFF exists to promote the perspectives and voices of the South Asian community by serving, organizing and advocating South Asian culture in the Greater Dallas Metroplex area through cinema.

The third annual DFW South Asian Film Festival will take place from March 3 to 5, 2017.

Opening night film & after party (March 3): Perot Museum in Downtown Dallas
March 4 & 5: AMC Village on the Parkway 9

At twenty, Guddu Engineer, finds his life close to perfect. Two great friends, an engineering course in progress and acceptance by the girl he so loves.

But then one simple choice changes it all. The choice between love and hate.

To impress upon the lovely Sonia Kashyap, Guddu prepares a list on her birthday. A list of everything that Sonia likes. From a Mahendra Dhoni haircut to getting rid of Manucha, the flirt. From gifting her poetry by Rumi to taking the perfect 'dp' over the Allahbad Naini bridge. He is on course to settling Sonia's life for good. And supporting him all along are Football and Khatri, his buddies.

However along with this pure and sweet journey, Guddu is also involved in a sinister one. One that would bring him to the crossroads where one path leads to achieving love and other to losing it forever.

Guddu Engineer symbolises youth, both from India and Pakistan. For them each day is a vote between warmth and loathing.

Ultimately the story's moral can be best encompassed in what Rumi said: 'it's not our task to seek love but the barriers we have built against it'.
